Turn any font into a variable one

I made a small but really handy tool for anyone who works with fonts but isn’t a type designer.

Free open-source fonts often come in just one or two weights, say, regular and bold. But what if you need a medium? Or a wider version? Or a slanted one?

That’s what Axisize is for. It generates the missing variations and turns any static font into a variable one.

It all runs in the browser, nothing to install. The defaults are tuned to work well with most fonts. And if something looks off, you can tweak the settings yourself: make the bold bolder, add optical compensation, adjust letter spacing, and so on.

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

P.S. my designer friends asked me to clarify that:

(а) if you use paid fonts, make sure to first check whether there are official styles available for purchase (and if there are, it’s better to do so and support the authors)

(б) algorithms can’t do everything, fonts come in different varieties, and some may get distorted in the service, keep this in mind
